Given that there are quite a few Ambilight kits available at fairly variable prices, let’s start by pointing out that the 55-60 inch version of the Lytmi Fantasy 3 is currently available for $219. This makes it a rather top-of-the-range box when compared with the competition.
In practical terms, this means impeccable quality, with a precise and responsive experience. What’s more, the kit is very easy to install and is entirely ‘Plug and Play’. In fact, the box contains everything you need to install it. It contains
- The Lytmi Fantasy 3 box with 4 HDMI inputs
- An LED strip and fixing system
- An HDMI 2.1 cable
- And a power supply
Lytmi Fantasy 3 unboxing and Review
Installation is pretty straightforward.
The first thing to do is stick the LED strip to the back of your television. Note, however, that there is a direction to follow depending on the position of its HDMI ports (all the details are in the instructions). Next, you need to connect the LED strip to the control box, using the HDMI 2.1 cable supplied with the kit.
Finally, all you have to do is plug your devices into the dedicated ports and you’re ready to go. Once the television is switched on, the system works instantly, and thanks to HDMI 2.1, the box detects by itself when you change channel.
You can also download the Lytmi Home application to access the settings of the Lytmi Fantasy 3 kit, but I’ll come back to that later.

Lytmi Fantasy Features and key points
The first thing to point out is that the Lytmi Fantasy 3 needs an HDMI signal to work. This means that if you have applications like Netflix or YouTube installed directly on your Smart TV, you won’t be able to have light synchronisation.
So you’ll have to go through your TV box or games console. Note that the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S are fully compatible with the kit, since everything is equipped with HDMI 2.1. That’s pretty cool, as it means you can simultaneously connect all your multimedia devices to a single port, or take advantage of new technologies like Dolby Vision or VRR.
Add to this the fact that this kit easily supports displays such as 8K@60Hz or 4K@120Hz and you’ve got a product that’s fully compatible with the latest generation of Smart TVs, so you can rest easy for a long time to come.
Let’s also mention the Lytmi Fantasy 3’s state-of-the-art backlighting strip, which boasts 72 LEDs per metre for truly stunning lighting effects. What’s more, the camera is capable of selecting the best colours and combining them to achieve the best possible synchronisation, even during fast-moving action scenes.
Of course, everything can be configured using the Lytmi Home application. There are pre-recorded modes for cinema or gaming, you can also change the brightness or the degree of light diffusion, or simply create scenes, a bit like Hue light bulbs. The icing on the cake is that if you have a Sony or Xiaomi TV, you can even switch the kit on and off at the same time as your TV.
In short, as you’ll have gathered, this is a high-quality package packed with great features.

Lytmi Fantasy 3 Review & Conclusion
I’m not going to lie to you, I’ve never really been interested in a Philips Ambilight. In fact, I’m more inclined to go for sobriety in a room like my living room. In short, I wasn’t expecting much from the Lytmi Fantasy 3 kit, but to say the least,
I was totally impressed. Firstly, because it’s so easy to install: all you have to do is plug it in and the kit works straight away. Secondly, because the light synchronisation it offers is really top quality. Whether I’m watching an action film, or playing an edgy game in 4K/60FPS on my PS5, the experience is precise and responsive. The presence of HDMI 2.1 is also a big plus, as Philips doesn’t yet offer this feature on its televisions.
So I think the price of $220 is totally justified. To sum up, if you’re a fan of RGB and new technologies, I can only advise you to give the Lytmi Fantasy 3 a try. Like me, you’re likely to be pleasantly surprised.
